A top-down action shooter with one-hit-kill combat, set in the criminal underworld of Birmingham, England in 1939. You play a widowed gangster's wife working through the people who murdered her husband.
Who is Cohen — why is the game named after them?
Cohen is the surname of the protagonist. The game's own character screen labels her ELISA COHEN; the story is her revenge, and 1939 is the year it takes place.
Is Cohen 1939 just Hotline Miami in 1930s England?
Fair as a starting point: top-down, one-hit kills, fast retries, loud soundtrack. The differences are the throw-to-stun weapon swapping, melee executions and a heavier story layer; demo reviews also compared it to Katana ZERO and OTXO.
Why do the characters have such strong English accents?
Because the game is set in Birmingham and voiced entirely in English — with heavy local accents on purpose.
